ISP tuning optimizes the image processing parameters for a specific sensor, lens, processing platform, and product application. D3 Embedded provides baseline characterization, lens-specific tuning, and application-specific fine tuning to progress from functional camera to production-quality image performance. Our image quality lab supports objective image-quality testing using industry-standard tools including Imatest.
Baseline Image Calibration

Baseline image calibration optimizes the Image Signal Processing (ISP) for a specific camera under a standard set of conditions, providing a solid starting point for development and many general-purpose applications.
- Provides a strong baseline for development, evaluation, and many general-purpose applications
- Calibrated Black Level Correction, Auto White Balance, Lens Shading Correction, Color Correction
- ISP Baseline Characterization is performed using proprietary ISP tools from NVIDIA, Texas Instruments, Intel, Sony, and other platforms as needed.
Lens Specific Image Tuning

This process tailors image tuning for your camera’s specific optics, including lens shading correction, distortion correction, and customized sharpening as needed.
Application Specific ISP Fine Tuning

Customer use cases may vary widely, and D3 Embedded specializes in tuning for unique use cases, from endoscopes, automotive, machine vision to aerospace. All of these systems have very different requirements and are tuned differently according to their applications.
- Improve overall image quality performance for challenging use cases and achieve use-case specific objective and/or subjective KPIs
- Enable and tune special modes such as RGB-IR, NIR, non-Bayer CFAs, or High Dynamic Range (HDR)
- Tuning for specific lighting conditions – LED with Flicker Mitigation, IR, strobe, multi-spectral, etc.
- Includes targeted field testing and data collection to refine our solutions and guarantee exceptional results in real-world scenarios
- Fine tuning may include Noise Suppression, Sharpening, Tone Mapping, Color, Flicker Mitigation, MTF, 3A [Auto Exposure, Auto White Balance, Auto Focus]
